Innovate Manhattan Charter School

This complete interior fit-out of a Lower East Side middle school's core and shell space included self-leveling flooring that was sealed and stained. Additionally, the project included drywall partitions and custom wood trim glass walls to create classrooms and meeting spaces.

All rooms received new lighting, power, flooring, ceilings and finish work. Finishes included paint, rubber wall surfaces, acoustical ceiling panels, VCT in storage rooms and new colored epoxy flooring as well as new millwork for teachers' lounges, the cafeteria and reception, and new lockers for students.

The project included all new building systems: new air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and heating systems, with modifications to the existing sprinkler systems.

During pre-construction, Mc Gowan provided value engineering services by proposing design modifications that allowed the project to remain within the school’s budget.

The Mc Gowan team also implemented an accelerated schedule to ensure that all renovations were completed before the school opened its doors for the fall season.
