Manhattan Neighborhood Network Educational and Media Center

This renovation of a historic East Harlem firehouse building created a new satellite location for the Manhattan Neighborhood Network. The project involved the complete demolition of the building's basement through the fourth floor and included a roof extension.

The project transformed the 124-year-old historic landmark into a state-of-the-art media center, providing the surrounding community with full access to new communications technology. The building houses live broadcast facilities, multipurpose rooms for community meetings, exhibition and performance space as well as access to broadband technology and training.

The project encompassed renovations to the landmarked masonry/brick exterior including construction of a new penthouse, installation of new elevators while maintaining the existing tin-ceiling panels, installation of three live-broadcast and production facilities, complete interior construction including refinishing existing wood floors, painting & sealing of existing masonry walls, repair of existing stained glass, and installation of all new sprinkler, fire alarm and MEP systems.
