Park West Radiology

Park West Radiology is a state-of-the-art medical imaging center in New York City. The modern space houses a reception lobby, waiting room, mammogram / CT scan / MRI and digital X-ray rooms with adjacent control rooms, bathrooms, staff offices, a record room and technical facilities.

Mc Gowan served as construction manager for the pre-construction phase and as general contractor for the build-out of the company's offices in midtown Manhattan. During the pre-construction phase Mc Gowan assisted the design team in budget analysis, value engineering, building systems evaluations and preparation of bid packages.

A unique challenge of this project was devising a way to maneuver large, heavy medical equipment into the space located at the basement level of a building that lacked the necessary access way. The Mc Gowan team temporarily opened an exterior wall connecting the radiology office to the adjacent underground parking garage by which riggers transported the equipment down a temporarily reinforced garage ramp and through the sixteen-foot-wide wall opening.

The office interiors feature custom cabinetry, welded sheet flooring in treatment rooms, carpet tile flooring in public areas, sheetrock walls and suspended acoustical ceilings. Lead shielding and lead glass windows surround radiology imaging areas. Upgrades included new MEP infrastructure such as lighting, an electrical distribution system, plumbing and HVAC ductwork.
